Beaches Council on Aging is in need of Volunteers with a friendly voice and a couple of free hours during the week.
Our Volunteer Friendly Caller’s purpose is to enhance the quality of life of our DIAL A RIDE seniors through supportive, friendly telephone calls to those who may be isolated or lonely.
Our new FRIENDLY CALLER program can be done from your home. However, training is done for 1 hour in person at a location around the Jacksonville Beaches area.
Friendly Caller Volunteers will receive a list of names of the seniors and disabled adults who ride with our transportation program called DIAL A RIDE. These are adults in the Beaches area that can no longer drive. The Friendly Caller will contact the rider to let them know we are doing wellness checks to make sure they are doing fine and if they have any needs besides transportation.
If so, we have an information coordinator that will direct our riders to a service that can fill their needs. The Friendly Caller is the connection to services. It’s a way to let our seniors know we care about them. Each week you will spend 10 to 15 minutes catching up, and spending a bit of quality time with our riders. The time you call is based on a mutually convenient time for both you and the rider.
Please contact Maria Gage at Maria@beachesdialaride.org or (904) 246-1477 Opt. 2 Tues.-Fri. 10am – 4pm and Mondays after 1:30pm for more information and if you wish to participate. Thank you in advance for your help with this most vulnerable population of our community.
