17 Sep What is an Endowment? | What You Need to Know
At our 50th Anniversary celebration on September 4th, Beaches Council on Aging proudly announced the launch of a new Endowment Fund – beginning immediately! This Fund is designed to provide lasting support for Dial-a-Ride, ensuring this essential service continues to serve our community for the next 50 years and beyond.
The endowment is a critical step in securing the future of Dial-a-Ride. With ongoing contributions and community support, we can guarantee that seniors and adults with disabilities will always have access to safe, reliable transportation.
Here are a few key points to help you better understand the importance of this program and how you can be part of its success.
Beaches Council on Aging | What is an Endowment?
For half a century, Dial-a-Ride has been more than transportation – it’s independence, dignity, and connection for those who need it most. Each month, we provide over 1,000 rides for seniors and individuals with disabilities, helping them reach medical appointments, grocery stores, and the daily necessities that keep life moving.
The demand for this service is growing rapidly. In the past year alone, total rides increased by 22%, with 7% more new riders relying on us for the first time. And as the Beaches’ senior population continues to rise, the need for Dial-a-Ride will only continue to expand.
That’s why we created the Endowment Fund – to secure the future of this vital service and ensure no one in our community is ever left behind. This fund is not only about long-term sustainability – it’s also about security. Life is unpredictable, and emergencies can happen. By building this financial safety net, we can guarantee that Dial-a-Ride will always be there, even in times of crisis.
Whether it’s an unexpected funding gap, rising costs, or a community emergency, the Endowment ensures the wheels keep turning for those who depend on us most. By contributing to the Endowment Fund, you become a member of the Wheels of Hope Society, a community dedicated to ensuring safe, reliable transportation for seniors and adults with disabilities in the Beaches for generations to come. No matter what challenges arise, those who need us will always have access to the transportation they deserve.
How Can I Contribute to the Endowment Fund
Beaches Council on Aging is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN #58-2085222), and every contribution to our Endowment Fund is fully tax-deductible. No matter the size, your gift creates a lasting legacy of care and support for those who need Dial-a-Ride the most.
You can make an impact in a variety of ways:
- A one-time gift by cash, check, stock, or bonds
- A monthly or annual pledge
- A flexible commitment spread over three years
- Fulfilling your Annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
To give you an idea of what your commitment could look like, here are some sample giving levels:
- $2,776 monthly / $33,333 annually = $100,000 total
- $1,389 monthly / $16,667 annually = $50,000 total
- $695 monthly / $8,333 annually = $25,000 total
- $278 monthly / $3,334 annually = $10,000 total
- $139 monthly / $1,666 annually = $5,000 total
Every act of generosity, whether large or small, helps sustain this vital service for decades to come.
